How can increased security result in the airlines losing 20,000 luggage bags? I'm confused. I travel between Edinburgh and London once a week and the stringent baggage security measures I have experienced recently are extremely tight. I am comfortable with the need to do so because i realise that this will (or should) result in a safer flight for everyone. But surely more extreme forms of security should result in less baggage being lost, not the massive 20,000 reported in the press?

My wife & I are travelling across USA by plane and train - Amtrak. How do we handle luggage (4 bags) on train? We are in our late 50s. We are familiar with air travel, but some journeys are by train, and we are apprehensive about handling our luggage . We will have about 4 bags, 3 big (23 kgs each) and 1 small (7 kg). Bug Spray for luggage bags or boxes that are safe on clothes and books? I found a baby silverfish crawling on one of my books when I was packing them in a snaptop box. I am planning to leave my luggage (about 3 huge bags) and travel light in CDG. Is there a facility for this? I wanna travel light instead of carrying these huge suitcases. How do i get rid of th stains on my luggage? I recently took a trip and I had to check in my favorite big red luggage bag because i had too many carry on bags. when i got it back, there were some stains on the bag. they were not too severe but i want to take them off anyway. i tried some warm water and a little bit of soap but it won't come off. the edges are leather, but the parts that are stained are made out of a material that is not cotton. its this smooth. almost plasticy material. help please?
